Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
