Thousands Left Without Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Weather Systems
Around 25,000 households in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the area, generating wind gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Extensive Damage
Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units activated to address the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, nearly one thousand households in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after the capital city recorded its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received 598 calls for help across the area, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

- Werribee region - experienced substantial destruction
- Hoppers Crossing area - numerous assistance requests
- Wyndham region - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, more than 28k electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tomorrow was expected to become the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both regions.
Medical Alert
Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the region.
